This article is a record of the development of our decorative metal showroom, which was underway in 2018. It describes a plan to create an exhibition environment where visitors could see the reflections, polishing marks, 3D shapes, and appearance of large panels of metals in their actual size, which are difficult to convey with small samples alone.
01Background of showroom development
At the time, decorative metalwork was often viewed using samples of 200mm x 200mm, A4 size, or 100mm x 100mm, which limited the ability to convey the reflection and continuity of the patterns when viewed over a large area. Therefore, we proceeded with a plan to develop a showroom adjacent to our head office factory where large panels could be displayed.
02Reasons for checking in large format
The impression of decorative metals changes depending on the area, lighting, viewing distance, and angle, even with the same finish. In particular, mirror finishes , hairline finishes , vibration polishing , and 3D panels can be better understood by viewing them in large sizes, as this makes it easier to grasp how they will look in a space.
03The decorative metal that was scheduled to be exhibited
The plan was to exhibit mainly large panel objects created for Tokyo Designers Week 2014 and BAMBOO EXPO 9 & 10. It also included the lightweight, ultra-thin stainless steel and titanium designs exhibited at the "Automotive Engineering Exposition Nagoya."
The exhibition records for BAMBOO EXPO 10 allow you to see the contents of the exhibition at the time, divided into walls, floors, and ceilings.
