We are moving from an era of mass production and mass consumption to an era where we must ask ourselves, "What should we choose and what should we leave behind?"

As people involved in architecture and interior design, we are now responsible not only for the beauty of the space, but also for the stories behind the materials that make up it.

This time, Toyo Stainless Polishing Industry is introducing a new design panel series suitable for the ESG era, based on resource-saving stainless steel that reduces the use of rare metals such as nickel. While retaining the original luster of steel created by the initial machining process, the mysterious metal surface, which pursues a semi-mirror "hazy reflection" look, is adorned with four unique designs.

・Lumina Volte

・RIPPLES

・Suimei

・Jeux d'eau

Light and shadow, water and wind, the passage of time. A stainless steel panel that, while being an environmentally conscious new material, somehow evokes primitive memories. That is our answer for the next generation.

Why "resource-saving stainless steel" now?

Design that responds to ESG through "material selection"

Addressing ESG issues in architecture and spatial design cannot be fully explained by simply using energy-saving equipment or adopting renewable energy.

Many projects have already begun to address the question of how much of the "materials" themselves, such as walls, ceilings, fixtures, and counters, can be used for as long as possible and with the least possible burden on the environment.

・Resource-saving design that reduces the use of rare metals such as nickel

- High durability and recyclability typical of stainless steel

-Long lifespan reduces life cycle costs

While possessing these characteristics, design polishing

We will realize a worldview where environmental consideration does not mean sacrifice.

For designers and architects, it is more than just an "environmentally friendly material."

・Reduction of procurement risks

- Long-term price and supply stability

・ESG messages that can be incorporated into the building's story

Combining the above elements, this material can become the backbone of your project.

The semi-mirror finish creates a "dimly reflective" aesthetic of steel

What we focused on was not a mirror-like reflection that reflects everything, but rather a "semi-mirror" nuance that softly blends out the contours.

The semi-mirror design is the original expression of steel, born from the "original cutting" process.

- Projecting the presence of people and the movement of light as shadows like an abstract painting

- Accept the changes between day and night, and between natural and artificial light, as gentle fluctuations.

・Leave space to reflect each viewer's own "imaginary landscape"

It brings a mysterious sense of security to the space.

The unique design polishing applied to resource-saving stainless steel achieves an exquisite balance between the natural light that seems to seep out from deep within the steel and the semi-mirror reflection that gently flickers on the surface.

"Sustainability" and "beauty" are aligned. One conclusion reached is this semi-mirror-finish stainless steel design panel, achieved through this primal machining process.

A story of light and water woven through four different expressions

We would like to introduce the four designs on display this time. All of them have their roots in the same resource-saving stainless steel material.

By adding different rhythms and textures to the music, a completely different worldview is created.

Design 1: Lumina Volte – A primordial screen where light swirls

"Lumina Volte" is a design based on the theme of a vortex of light.

A special polishing process, similar to sharpening a blade in water, creates a surface finish

It creates deep strokes and a slight undulation.

When light hits it,

- Multiple highlights swirl, not just in one direction

Depending on the angle you look at it from, it appears sharp like a sword and soft like fabric.

・The entire wall changes appearance like a quiet aurora

It is a dynamic panel that also exudes a sense of tranquility, almost like prayer.

おすすめのシーン

・Hotel and restaurant entrance walls

・Front panel of a high-end cash register

・Signature walls in galleries and museums

By simply changing the position and color temperature of the light source, you can dramatically change the character of the space.

It can be used as a building material assuming lighting.

Design 2: RIPPLES – Ripples of memory spreading on the surface of the water

"RIPPLES" is, as the name suggests,

The design is inspired by ripples spreading on the surface of water.

At first glance, it appears to be a silent metal surface. However, with just one step,

・Ripple-like reflections follow me with a time lag

・Light swaying up and down and left and right creates a rhythm in the space

- Create the illusion that human movement and sound are stirring the invisible water surface.

It serves as a screen that visualizes such "movement."

おすすめのシーン

- Bottle display wall behind the bar counter

・Atrium walls in commercial facilities

・Accent walls in the dining room or living room of a home

RIPPLES can only be created in places with sounds and people flowing around.

It creates a once-in-a-lifetime "light show."

Design ③: Suimei – A clear interior created by a quiet mirror of water

"Suimei" is a design based on the theme of the calmness of a clear water surface, like a lake in the early morning or a puddle after a rain. By taking advantage of the characteristics of the semi-mirror surface and controlling the polishing marks with extreme delicacy,

- Creates a smooth gradation of light with little noise on the surface

Even under strong lighting, it gives a soft reflection instead of a glare.

・Upon closer inspection, you can feel the breath of the delicate polishing.

We have created a panel that speaks quietly.

おすすめのシーン

・Reception and waiting areas of medical and healthcare facilities

・Relaxation area in spa and hot spring facilities

・Kitchen and bathroom walls in homes

Suimei is perfect for spaces that want to combine a clean, contemporary look with a calming texture.

Design 4: Jeux d'eau – Playful water, dancing light

"Jeux d'eau" means "play with water" in French. It is a light and rhythmic design reminiscent of a fountain or a curtain of water. While it appears random, there is a meticulous polished design behind it.

- Fine strokes and pointillist reflections sparkle and dance

・When you take a distance, his expression changes to a gentle one, as if covered by a thin veil.

・Day and night, natural and artificial light show completely different aspects of "playing in water"

This is a panel that has such positive energy.

おすすめのシーン

・Brand walls in shops and pop-up stores

・Art panels for children's facilities and educational spaces

・Office cafe space and collaboration area

Jeux d'eau is perfect for adding a touch of playfulness and a touch of refined sparkle to your space.

The benefits of balancing ESG and design from a designer's perspective

This resource-saving stainless steel design panel series offers the following value to designers and architects:

Benefit 1: Material selection itself becomes an "ESG response"

・Resource-saving design that reduces the amount of rare metals used

- High durability and ease of recycling unique to stainless steel

-Long lifespan reduces the frequency of replacement and disposal

These directly impact ESG indicators such as environmental friendliness, resource risk reduction, and lifecycle cost reduction. In design prospectuses and presentations, it becomes easier to explain, both in words and numbers, why a particular material was chosen.

Advantage 2: "Tableware as a material" that is well suited to light and spatial effects

All four designs have textures that really shine when combined with light.

・Storytelling at the entrance

・Branding production for the back counter

・Wall design that assumes interaction with indoor lighting

By considering these factors together with the lighting plan, it is possible to create a space that is attractive with materials rather than being enhanced with equipment.

Advantage 3: Freedom of processing and customizability

Because it is a stainless steel design panel based on plate material,

·size

- Shape (straight/R-shape/cutwork, etc.)

・Installation method

We can flexibly customize our products to match the detailed design of your architecture and interiors. From small sign plates to large walls that span an atrium, we can incorporate them into your plans as materials that align with the core of "environmental consideration x design," regardless of the scale of your project.

Experience the "stainless steel of the future" at BAMBOO EXPO

At this exhibition, we will be showcasing the Lumina Volte design on a resource-saving stainless steel base. Please pay attention to the following points at the venue.

- How the reflection of a semi-specular surface changes as the distance changes

- How facial expressions change like a "split personality" when using natural light and spotlights

- How will the contrast in texture and temperature be created when placed next to other materials (wood, stone, glass, textiles)?

Please come and experience the wonder of how expressive metal can be, something that cannot be conveyed through drawings or monitors alone.

To all designers and creators – Your image

We look forward to hearing from you from the early stages of your project.

For example, the following involvement is possible:

・Mixed proposals combining four designs that match the brand story and concept

・Meetings to consider specific details, including thickness, size, and installation method

・Collaborative creation of presentation boards for clients using actual samples

"The concept for the space has been decided, but the materials have not yet been decided."

"We want to promote ESG compliance, but we absolutely do not want to compromise on aesthetics."

At times like these, we hope you will remember resource-saving stainless steel, original cutting techniques, and Mysterious Mirror®. As your partner in creating the spaces of the next generation, we will help you create that story with the "expression of steel."
