Prototype Design Metal [Custom-made expression of your image].

投稿日:

The designs of many of our design metals are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of actual commercialization and use.
In reality, many prototypes are created and most of them are buried without being commercialized.

The process of creating and developing these prototypes varies from case to case, some are the embodiment of our own image, while others are the embodiment of the client’s (architects, designers, artists) image.

This time, we will be showing prototypes of our custom-made design metals for the first time.
We hope that these prototypes will be useful for your ideas.

Let me introduce them to you.

The Tempest

Whirling tornadoes, soaring tornadoes, design stainless steel that expresses a raging storm.

It expresses the impression of undulation and swirling, but this is still incomplete.

Originally, I was going to combine the design polishing process with this vortex, but since the concept is a natural storm, I couldn’t expect it to be very important, so I had to suspend the design phase.

One day, I hope to be able to develop it when you create a space with a weather environment in your design that can be found on another planet.

SAZANAMI

Designed as one variation of the water surface series.

While the commercialized rippls expresses the swaying of the minamo, this ripple expresses the waves swaying in the wind.

(Designing Stainless Steel Series)

However, due to manufacturing problems and the texture being too homogeneous, the expression of the ripples was taken over by JEUX D’EAU, which was later commercialized, and the development of this ripple was suspended as a prototype.

The technical information obtained during the development of Sazanami has been handed over to Jou-Dou, but since the texture of Sazanami looks like a fish, I would like to use this prototype as a base to improve and propose the next time I have a chance to work on a spatial expression that pays homage to the mysterious scenes in the sea, such as the migration of fish (sardines). If there is a chance to be involved in spatial expression that pays homage to the mystical scenes in the sea, such as the migration of sardines, I would like to propose improvements based on this prototype.

Prototype reflecting in the setting sun

Assuming that the prototype would be used outdoors, we also verified the reflections and glare from the setting sun to match the scene.

Golden tatami mat – homage expression with design metal

I have tried to express golden tatami mats with designing metal.
One is for interior materials such as walls, floors, and ceilings. The other is a coating material used for theories such as fixtures.
We developed prototypes by changing the material of the design metal according to each application.

The top two sheets are golden tatami mats made of titanium for floors, walls, and ceilings.
The bottom one is a golden tatami mat made of stainless steel mesh for covering fixtures.

Floor surface materials need to be extremely durable.
Therefore, polishing and IP golden titanium processing are applied to the titanium material base to improve the scratch resistance and wear resistance.

This development prototype was never actually used in the store.
The budget was too huge and the plan was changed.
At that time, we were only able to make proposals for the design materials, so we regretted that we were unable to make proposals in terms of shape processing and structure.

Now that we have the processing technology, we are able to make various proposals.

These golden titanium tatami mats are not in actual use, but they are proposed and exhibited as flooring materials at various exhibitions.

On the other hand, covering materials for fixtures need to flexibly follow the shape.

Therefore, we have developed a prototype of golden stainless steel mesh tatami.

A very fine stainless steel mesh with a golden tatami design finish. When exposed to sunlight, it reflects very beautifully.

It is soft and can follow various surfaces. Of course, the golden color does not crack or peel off when bent.

What do you think? This prototype is about three years old.

There are still many more prototypes waiting to be introduced to the world.

I will introduce them again next time.
